It's Always Now

This diptych, spread across two 52x34" canvases, is a gripping fusion of emotional realism and urban abstraction. At its core, the painting captures the weathered face of an elderly man—his eyes heavy with stories, his lips pressed into a quiet, almost defiant frown. Rendered with rich, textured strokes, his skin is a patchwork of earth tones, scars of time etched into every fold.

Surrounding him is a riot of graffiti and color, where drips of neon pink, canary yellow, turquoise, and crimson spill and collide like the heartbeat of a city. This vivid chaos clashes and dances with the calm gravity of the man’s face. The entire figure is outlined in an electric sky-blue trace, almost as if he's been cut from another world and pasted into this one.

This is a painting I created for an alumni Exhibition held at the University of Suffolk in March 2023.
