PART I
SKETCH AND UNDER PAINTING.

The process begins with a sketch of the head and figure, before working into the detail — refining the features and establishing the contours of the face.
PART II
THE BUILD
BIGGIE SMALLS, 30X24", MIXED MEDIA ON CANVAS.
From there, I move into paint, starting with the darkest value that isn't black and working sequentially from dark to light, building the painting up layer by layer. Once the mid-tones are in place, I add the deepest darks and begin refining the features.
PART III
FINAL TOUCHES

Finally, I make any compositional adjustments and work in the fine detail.
