Nas: Stillmatic

In this portrait of Nas, I set out to capture the essence of a poet whose words shaped a generation. Using a blend of acrylic, oil, and layers of graffiti-style spray paint, I built a backdrop that feels like the city itself—raw, layered, and alive with stories.

His expression is calm but powerful, much like his delivery. The NY cap, the gaze, the subtle glow of the colours—all are intentional reflections of an artist who brought street narratives into lyrical legacy.

I painted this piece back in 2017 when I first set out as a full-time artist. It was one of the first works where I began experimenting with graffiti elements, blending them into my portraiture. This painting marks a pivotal moment—the beginning of the visual style that would go on to define my practice.
