Illmatic came out in 1994 and changed what hip hop could do with words — a 16-year-old vision of Queensbridge that felt like literature from the first bar. Stillmatic came seven years later, when Nas had everything to prove again, and he proved it. This portrait is for the listeners who know both albums cover to cover: the paint is tight and dense, a face with something serious behind the eyes, ready to go another twelve rounds.
